Ardrishaig

Ardrishaig is a village community which has grown around the eastern entrance to the spectacularly scenic Crinan Canal. It is a community which should benefit from the tourism income generated by boaters transiting through the canal, this is not yet being realised to its full potential. The local community in ardrishaig headed up by the Community Council, has partnered with Argyll and Bute Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and British Waterways Scotland to develop a regeneration masterplan for the village. This provides a strategic approach to managing the aspirations of all the partners.

  • Masterplan

Ardrishaig's masterplan has been adopted by the Local Planning Authority as Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) giving it a key role in decision making locally. Further to this the partners have continued to engage with the community in order to drive the changes wanted in Ardrishaig for the widest benefit possible.

  • Marina & New Developments

British Waterways Scotland (BWS) is begining to develop schemes based on the output from the Ardrishaig Masterplan. It is widely believed that Ardrishaig's economy would benefit greatly through the creation of a marina.
