Strategic Environmental Assessment

Scottish Canals have now completed a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) screening report, a key component of sustainable development, establishing important methods for protecting the environment. We have determined that the Waterspace Strategy is unlikely to generate significant environmental effects and therefore does not require a Strategic Environmental Assessment.

The screening determination can be viewed below:

•  Determination and Statement of Reasons

•  Response from the Scottish Government on the Screening of the Waterspace Strategy

•  Individual responses for the Consultation Authorities - SNH, SEPA and Historic Scotland

Further information on SEA can be found on the Scottish Government website.
