Business Improvement Objectives

The Business Improvement Programme has been created to identify key areas in the business where we can improve the way we operate, improve efficiency and overall reduce costs. As you know this year we have £1.5m less grant on top of the £0.5m reduction in 2010 and we have limited contingency funds. Therefore, it is a business imperative that we actively reduce costs in all areas of the business. We have already informed our customers that we cannot afford to meet the exacting standards of previous years. Our programme this year includes

  • training our work teams to provide competencies in the teams to carry out tasks which would otherwise require expensive contracts or not be done at all
  • continue the drive towards customer assisted lock & bridge operation
  • the introduction of a lean vegetation and facilities cleaning contract
  • A root and branch review of all plant and equipment to investigate opportunities to reduce costs in these areas.

Keep up to date with the latest Business Improvement Programme newsletters below.
