Celebrate Disney Pixar's BRAVE with Scottish Canals

Scotland. Where legends come to life.

Are you brave enough to look for the mysterious Loch Ness Monster? Take a boat trip along the Caledonian Canal and Great Glen and see if you can spot this elusive creature. Sail past the ruins of the impressive Urquhart Castle, once a medieval stronghold.

Highland Clans and clan life are at the heart of Brave's story. And it's not just Loch Ness where you'll encounter ancient Scotland. All along the Caledonian Canal and Great Glen remnants of clan legend can be found. Paddle under Invergarry Castle overlooking Loch Oich, once the stronghold of the Clan MacDonnell, cycle to the dark story at the Well of the Seven Heads, and walk along the Dark Mile where legend has it that Bonnie Prince Charlie escaped to after the Battle of Culloden.

The Crinan Canal lies in the ancient coastal kingdom of Dalriada and is surrounded by prehistoric stones and carvings left by Scotland's ancient inhabitants. Over 800 ancient monuments can be found within a 6-mile radius.

Although wild bears no longer roam Scotland's great outdoors as they do in Brave, some of our ancient inhabitants have returned to the forests and waters of Knapdale. After being hunted to extinction over 400 years ago, wild beavers are once again living in Scotland.

There are so many ways to explore Scotland's canals and the Great Glen, whether by boat, boot or bike. And many opportunities to delve deeper into the myths and legends surrounding them.
