Ardrishaig Harbour located on the shores of Loch Fyne has a close association with the Crinan Canal; if the Canal had not been built Ardrishaig would have had no harbour. Ardrishaig Pier situated within the Harbour was first opened in 1873. The Crinan Canal itself no longer carries freight, although the harbour at Ardrishaig is an important element in Scotland’s timber trade. Approximately 120,000 tonnes pass through the harbour each year. Recently the Pier has just completed extension works to accommodate larger vessels with the hope of attracting new customers.
