Brighton’s Burn Aqueduct

A routine inspection of the Brighton's Burn Aqueduct has identified a number of defects which are set to be addressed in 2019/2020.

A routine inspection of the Brighton’s Burn Aqueduct on the Union Canal identified a number of defects which now need to be addressed in order to help manage the ongoing deterioration of the asset.

If no action is taken the asset would continue to deteriorate and this would ultimately undermine the structure and cause it to fail, resulting in local flooding.

A project will get underway and will include a programme of works to improve the stabilisation of the structure walls, manage the vegetation including removal and repair of damage created, repointing and the removal of silt from the barrel of aqueduct.

This page will be updated as works progress.
