Lowland Canals Access Improvements is a LEADER and Sustrans funded project which will see improvements to access points along the Forth and Clyde Canal and Union Canal.

This £500k project will see improvements to access points along the Lowland Canals, including new or improved connections to and from the towpath, access around barrier gates and a lowering of chicanes. This improvement project is being undertaken with improved accessibility and towpath continuity for all users in mind.

In 2021, 99 sites between Kirkintilloch and Broxburn will be improved. During this time, there may be some minimal disruption on the towpath locally. We will advise of any closures or disruptions on our Canal Works page and social media channels as soon as they are known.

This page will be updated as works progress.
