Following a survey carried out in 2019 to ascertain what improvements local people would like to be made at Port Buchan on the Union Canal, a number of approved works will be undertaken between January and February 2021.

Thanks to £300k funding from Sustrans, West Loathian LEADER European grant fund and Scottish Government Town Centre Improvements Fund, works will be undertaken to make Port Buchan more accessible for pushchair and wheelchair users. A raised pedestrian crossing and disabled parking space with widened pathways and wheelchair accessible picnic table.

Other improvements include resurfacing the road, installing new pathways, seating, railings and hedging.
