Canal Challenge 200

As part of our 200th anniversary of the Union and Caledonian canals, we are launching #CanalChallenge200! Set yourself a 200 challenge and receive a limited edition 200th anniversary medal on completion of your goal. 

As part of our 200th anniversary celebrations, we are launching #CanalChallenge200!

We’re encouraging all canal users and friends of Scottish Canals to set yourself a challenge which (1)  incorporates 200 or takes place on the Union or Caledonian canals (2) is undertaken between 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2022.

Your challenge can be tailored to you, your family and friends, organisation or community groups capabilities and it can take place anytime, for any duration, over the course of the year.

Here’s some ideas to help get you on your way…

  • Paddle the length of the Union Canal over one weekend
  • Run 200 miles on the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath before the end of the year
  • Walk the Great Glen Way
  • Go a walk 200 days in 2022
  • Sail the Union and Caledonian canals…

Now its over to you (and your group), agree on your goal, then let us know by completing the form below – we’ll then hold you to it. Please follow government instruction and social distancing rules when undertaking your activities.

Once you have completed your challenge, submit your completed tracker with your address to and we will send you a limited edition medal.
