We’re challenging you and your friends family to keep active at home over the coming weeks with the Canal Challenge!
Over the course of the next few weeks we welcome you to join us in virtually walking the distance of Scotland’s canals at home, in your garden, or on your daily walk.
Please follow government instruction and social distancing rules when undertaking these activities.
How to play
Register your team with the form below! Each team can have up to six people. You don’t need to live together, just make sure to nominate a team leader who can virtually check in with you to collate all of your progress.
If you’re self isolating without any team members don’t worry – you’re not on your own. Let us know how you get on each week on our Canal Challenge Facebook group and we will assign you to a virtual team to add together all your totals.
Every Thursday make sure to send in your team’s step count to the Canal Challenge Facebook group, and we will post a leader board the following weekend letting you see where you are compared to other teams!
Why not start small with something like the Monkland Canal, and before you know it your team might be stepping your way towards the 60 miles of the Caledonian Canal!
Monkland Canal – 2 miles – 4,000 steps
Crinan Canal – 9 miles – 18,000 steps
Union Canal – 31 miles – 62,000 steps
Forth & Clyde Canal – 38 miles – 76,000 steps
Caledonian Canal – 60 miles – 120,000 steps
Will you walk the length of all Scotland’s canals combined? Keep up to date with progress on our Canal Challenge Facebook group!
