Head Chef – The Falkirk Wheel – Permanent – Circa £26,000 pa (inc allowances) – 37 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef to join our team at The Falkirk Wheel!

The Falkirk Wheel is a world renowned boat lift which attracts around 500,000 visitors each year. We are looking for a Head Chef to develop our catering offer and support with varied events.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, seeking continuous improvement and dedicated to a high level of technical skill in professional catering.

Key Duties:                               

  • Manage the preparation of all food for The Falkirk Wheel Visitor Centre and event catering at The Falkirk Wheel
  • Line management of our kitchen team at The Falkirk Wheel
  • Participation in a shift leader rota
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard and quality
  • Ensure all aspects of the food preparation areas are within acceptable standards, in accordance to legislation
  • Ensure that all stock is ordered in line with business needs
  • Active participation in the training and mentoring of other members of the team
  • Stock taking and recording/monitoring cost of sales

Key skills & experience required:

  • Diploma or similar level in Professional Cookery
  • Minimum of level 2 Food Hygiene Certified
  • Previous experience of health and safety legislation within a catering environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-paced environment
  • Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines under minimum supervision

This role is being offered on a permanent basis with a salary of circa £26,000 pa (inc allowances).   Hours of work are 37 hours per week on a 4 days on 2 days off rota.  Additional flexibility may be required dependent on business needs.
