Visitor Services Team Leader – Kelpies and The Falkirk Wheel

We’re looking for a Team Leader to join our team and help motivate our staff to deliver high standards of customer service.

We’re looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Team Leader to lead our team at the Kelpies and The Falkirk Wheel. 

Together, the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies welcome over one million people each year, who enjoy our world-famous boat trips, sculptures, gift shops, cafes and street food stalls.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional to help lead our team of catering and retail staff, and ensure the best possible customer service is provided to visitors at The Horsebox at the Kelpies, and at The Falkirk Wheel.

Our Team Leaders are expected to provided high quality service to customers in the café, including managing queues, allocating duties and giving direction, and maintaining a professional and engaging environment.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service
  • Engaging visitors and encouraging repeat visits
  • Ensuring food hygiene and health and safety regulations are followed
  • Training of peers and café assistants
  • Participating in the Shift Leader rota
  • Point of contact for queries and complaints

Previous varied experience in a high paced environment is required along with the confidence and ability to plan and react quickly to potential problems. Basic food hygiene and IT skills are essential as is the ability to work with challenging people and under pressure.

To provide the support that our customers expect at times of peak demand, our business is required to operate at weekends, on bank holidays and during evenings.  You are therefore requited to be flexible to deliver customer service when and where it is needed.

The role is offered on a permanent basis, working an average of 37 hours per week on a 5 out of 7 rota system. This role would also suit a job share arrangement, covering the full 7 days operation, and we would welcome applications to this effect. The role will be based at The Horsebox at the Kelpies, however will work from The Falkirk Wheel during the winter season.
