Refueling the Crinan Corridor exhibition

From Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August the disused Gleaner Oil Works Site at Pier Square, Ardrishaig will be transformed into an industrial art canvas.

Celebrating the recent Crinan Corridor: Rethink the Link charrette, and in support of Artmap Argyll’s Open Studios event, Scottish Canals and Argyll & Bute Council have commissioned local artists Lesley Burr, Melanie Chmielewska and Sian MacQueen as well as Edinburgh based designers StudioLR, and Scottish Canals’ Artist-in-Residence Lesley Banks to transform the derelict site into an innovative pop-exhibition.

Doors will open from 10am to 5pm each day for members of the public to come along for free and explore this one of a kind exhibition.

The exhibition will include: interpretive boards and video installations focusing on the area’s rich heritage and outputs from the charrette. At 11am and 2pm each day Scottish Waterways Trust will run historical walking tours of the canal at Ardrishaig (sign-up on the day).  There will also be an opportunity for visitors to tell their stories of living and working in Argyll and on the canal.

The event is family friendly and please note a strict no smoking policy will be in place. Yot Spot will be onsite selling refreshments and, in the case of nice weather, a picnic area will be open.
