The nation’s first-ever urban sports festival, featuring parkour, skateboarding and BMXing, jumps into Glasgow this summer as part of Scotland’s Year of Young People!
Whether you’re being dazzled by parkour, skateboard and BMX showcases, sampling a scrumptious selection of street food, exploring an array of art installations, or trying their hand (and feet!) at a range of sports, the Youth Urban Games will offer a unique day out for all the family.
Some of the UK’s biggest urban sports stars – and more than 100 of the best young BMX, parkour and skateboard athletes from Scotland and beyond – will showcase their skills at the event, flipping, jumping and rolling through a series of high intensity demos.
The entire event, from branding through to the opening ceremony, is being designed by a steering group made up of Glasgow’s young people.
Taking place on the same day as the Games, the festival will feature live music, street food, crafts and activities – and the Glasgow Canal Dragon Boat Race. Now in its second year, the festival is organised by Scottish Canals, Glasgow City Council, National Theatre of Scotland, The Whisky Bond, Queens Cross Housing Association, and various canalside communities and businesses.
