We are excited to offer a limited number of tickets for a premium internal tour of The Falkirk Wheel.

Ticket holders will enjoy an in-depth discussion of The Falkirk Wheel’s design, mechanics and engineering, before stepping inside the structure itself. There will be the chance to explore each level as the climb up the vertical metal ladders, leaving from the ground floor. Moving past the engine room, and into the rotating spindle of The Falkirk Wheel all will be discovered before topping out of the hatch on the upper aqueduct for stunning views and a rare opportunity to stand atop The Wheel.

Very limited spaces at £69.95 are available. This tour lasts for approximately 2 hours.

Terms & Conditions

Important information:

  • Part of the tour is outdoors so please come dressed for the weather.
  • In the event of adverse weather the tour may be cancelled or postponed.
  • Wear long sleeved tops and full length trousers. Skirts, shorts and dresses are not suitable.
  • You must wear sturdy footwear with good grips.
  • This tour involves climbing up a number of vertical ladders therefore you must have a good level of physical fitness to participate in the tour.
  • Due to the nature of the tour, it is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • There is no secure storage area at the visitor centre for personal items including back packs. Any items you bring along you must be able to carry on the tour.
  • You cannot bring equipment, back packs or any items that may obstruct your ability to climb ladders or restrict movement in a small space.
  • Cameras must be kept on straps to allow you to climb ladders and must not impede movement.
  • You must wear the safety equipment provided.
  • The tour involves accessing areas through small hatches which are accessible for people of average weight and height.

This tour is not suitable for anyone who:

  • Suffers from a fear of heights or vertigo.
  • Cannot stand loud noises – ear defenders will be provided.
  • Is uncomfortable in small spaces.
  • Suffers from any medical conditions which may affect ability to undertake the tour.
  • Is pregnant.
  • Physically unable to climb up vertical ladders.
