How do I get to The Falkirk Wheel?

Can I access The Falkirk Wheel in a wheelchair?

The Falkirk Wheel site is fully accessible for visitors with mobility problems and is wheelchair friendly. This includes our boat trips, however please let us know when you are booking. Visit the Visitor Accessibility page for more information about accessibility.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs on leads are welcome at The Falkirk Wheel – around the grounds and also in the Visitors’ Centre, with the only exception being the café area (where they’re not permitted for hygiene reasons). For boat trips, well behaved dogs are allowed on the Rotation Tour, however only service dogs are permitted on the Original Tour.

How long does the boat trip last?

When should I arrive for my boat trip?

We recommend you turn up at least 30 minutes before your booked boat trip. Visit Boat Trip Prices for more information about our boat trips.

Please note for 10:00am trips, the visitor centre does not open until 9:45am.

What are the different prices?

Visit Boat Trip Prices for more information about prices. An Adult Ticket is age 16-60, a Concession is age 60+ or in full-time education, and a Child is age 3 -15  or Under 3. Registered carers go free when accompanying the person you care for.

Do I have to book my boat trip in advance?

No you don’t need to book you boat trip in advance, you can turn up on the day. We can’t always guarantee we will have boat trips available though, especially in our busy periods, so avoid disappointment, we usually recommend booking in advance.

I don't have my confirmation email, what do I do?

Just bring along a note of your booking reference number, which you will receive at the end of the booking process, and we’ll be able to find your booking.

Can I visit The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies in the same day?

Yes, it is possible for visit both in the same day. They are located approximately 5miles from each other and can be access by walking or cycling along the towpath, by car or by public transport. There are no boat trips between the 2 locations (it would take 4 hours to travel by boat!)
