North Glasgow: Applecross Gateway works underway
Over the coming months improvement works will be carried out in North Glasgow at Applecross Basin as Scottish Canals and its partners create a new public space outside Old Basin house.
The space, which will be for everyone to enjoy, will also form the gateway into the Claypits local nature reserve. This first phase of works focuses predominantly around Scottish Canals’ headquarters and are due to last around six weeks, finishing late-December.
It involves creating a new access road behind Scottish Canals’ office and lowering the boundary wall around the site to open the area up and providing new seating on Applecross Street.
To enable the works to go ahead, there will be no entry to the Claypits from Applecross Street for six weeks from 15th November 2016. Signage has been installed advising of the closure.
During the works the Claypits can still be accessed from Ellesmere Street (opposite Stonyhurst Street). Anyone visiting the Claypits should also exit here.
