Update – 22 August 2019 11:30
Upon further inspection, the root of the bridge breakdown has been determined by National Rail, and engineers are currently on site to find a solution. The bridge will be closed to boat navigation for the rest of today (22 August 2019) and may impact on tomorrow (23 August 2019).
We apologise for the delay that this is causing, and appreciate your patience whilst National Rail work to find a fix for the swing bridge.
Updates will follow as we receive more information, and will be available on our social channels and our website.
21 August 2019 – 23:00
Please note that due to works being carried out by Network Rail at Banavie Railway Swing Bridge, the Caledonian Canal is currently closed to navigation.
Engineers are onsite to manage this issue, and look to have the canal open to boat traffic as soon as possible.
Updates will follow on our social media and website. We thank you for your patience whilst Scottish Canals and National Rail work together to reopen navigation.
