Following a breach on the Union Canal near Linlithgow on 12th August 2020, Scottish Canals have prioritised a programme of works to build resilience into the Union Canal. As part of this programme, we will be undertaking works at both Broomflat and Bonnington Weirs near Ratho.
To allow us to carry out improvement works safely, local restriction in navigation will be in place as we install temporary dams around the weirs. Whilst Bonnington Weir works will not affect the towpath, there will be restrictions at Broomflat Weir. We will publish works dates and diversion routes in due course.
