09:00, October 8th

Divers have successfully completed the repairs to the damaged lock cill and lockings at Gairlochy are now operating as normal.

17:40, October 4th

The Caledonian Canal at Gairlochy will be available for limited lockings on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th October before the lock is closed on Friday 7th to allow divers to undertake repairs to the damaged lock cill.

By raising the water level in the central basin at Gairlochy, the team have been able to reduce the pressure on the damaged cill and allow the lock gates to be operated temporarily. Lockings at Gairlochy will be limited to three per day, one in the morning, one at lunchtime and one in the afternoon.

Exact timings will be dependent on traffic. Boaters wishing to book passage are asked to call the local lock keeper on 07717 342606.

The Caledonian Canal is currently closed to boat traffic at Gairlochy due to a damaged lock gate cill.

The damaged cill is currently preventing the lock gate from sealing. A dive team will be undertaking a full inspection of the lock in order to inform repairs to the cill and bring the canal back into operation as soon as possible.
