Caledonian Canal re-open to boat traffic at Banavie Rail Bridge

Following final repairs yesterday, Network Rail have now completed testing and Banavie Rail Bridge is now operating as normal.

22nd March 2016

Engineers from Network Rail have managed to operate Banavie Rail Bridge manually this morning, and will continue to investigate the issue. Whilst there may be some boat delays due to bridge repairs being carried out, the canal has now re-opened to through traffic.

21st March 2016

Due to a mechanical failure on Banavie Rail Bridge, the Caledonian Canal is currently closed to boat traffic at Banavie. Network Rail and Scottish Canals staff are currently investigating the issue.
