Caledonian Canal reopened to boat traffic at Banavie

Network Rail has successfully repaired the fault at Banavie Rail Bridge and the Caledonian Canal has reopened to boat traffic.

Following an investigation by Network Rail on Tuesday evening, a fault has been found in the mechanism causing the bridge to malfunction. Network Rail staff are on site to carry out repairs. Banavie Rail Bridge will remain closed to boat traffic until further notice. We hope to have an update later in the day.

July 18th

The Caledonian Canal is currently closed to boat traffic at Banavie due to a fault with Banavie Rail Bridge. Network Rail engineers are currently en route to investigate the bridge.
