Crinan Canal temporary closure to through traffic

Update 21 November 2019

We are pleased to announce that following works undertaken by Scottish Canals staff, the sluice door on Crinan sea lock (Lock 15) has been replaced, resulting in the lock being once again fully operational.

Whilst these works were undertaken, a dive survey on remaining sluices on locks 14 and 15 was performed to ensure the lock continues to provide safe operations for boaters moving along the canal.

Please note that as we move into the colder seasons, there is a high chance of surface ice forming on the canal. Please be aware that as areas of the canal are still currently frozen, full transit is not possible at this time.

8 November 2019

Please note that due to a failure of a sluice gate at Lock 15 on the Crinan Canal, the canal will be closed to through traffic until further notice.

Access from Ardrishaig sea lock to Lock 14 is still possible.

We are currently working to progress repairs to the sluice gate, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Updates will be provided on the Scottish Canals website and on our social profiles.
