On Friday the 2nd of August, Ardrishaig welcomed over 500 people to Pier Square to celebrate the launch of the area’s brand new maritime museum and community space.
Pier Square came alive with an assortment of music, activities and stalls throughout the day – with a special focus on the official opening of The Egg Shed.
There was a celebration of two countries coming together in the twinning of the Crinan Canal with the Dalslands Kanal in Sweden, and the heritage of the area was brought to life through a Canal Theatre. An interactive walking tour guided by the 5th Duke of Argyll took participants through the history of the Crinan Canal, and uncovered the meaning behind the name of The Egg Shed.
