Join John Robinson and Doug Hamlin from Our Ability as they hand cycle across Scotland!
John is a quadruple amputee and Doug has lost the use of his legs, so both will be using specially modified hand cycles for their journey. As well as celebrating the vastly improved access-ability of Scotland’s canals, these inspirational cyclists aim to support and promote people with disabilities, and encourage everyone to get out and about on the canal towpaths. Joining them on their journey is our very own Chairman, Andrew Thin, and Ross Martin, Chair of Scottish Waterways Trust.
The journey begins on Tuesday 25th June as they set out along the Forth & Clyde Canal from Bowling to Glasgow, before continuing on to Falkirk and The Kelpies on Wednesday, and completing their journey with a cycle along the length of the Union Canal to it’s end point in Edinburgh on Thursday.
If you would like to come and cheer them on, join them at The Kelpies at lunch time on Wednesday!
We are thrilled to be supporting this amazing pair on their cycle along with Scottish Waterways Trust, Forth Valley College and Recyke-a-bike who are providing all the on course logistical support and sustenance!
