Caledonian Canal – Gairlochy

Update 24 June 2019

To allow repairs to be carried out to one of the lock gates at Gairlochy, on Friday 28th June lockings will only be available at the following times:

08.00, 12.30 and 17.00

We would ask boaters wishing to move through Gairlochy Locks in one of these three lockings to arrive in good time, berth up and await instructions from local staff.

Update 7 June 2019

We are pleased to advise that the maintenance team were able to complete the necessary repairs to Gairlochy Swing Bridge yesterday evening, and the bridge is now open to boats for transit. Please contact the lock keepers on arrival or on approach to arrange transit.

Thank you for your patience whilst this issue was resolved.

Update 6 June 2019

A temporary fix has been made to the Gairlochy Swing Bridge on the 6th of June 2019. This has allowed the local team to move through a number of boats who were waiting for passage.

The swing bridge is expected to return to full operation on the 7th of July 2019 – an update will be provided when operations to fix the bridge are complete.

5 June 2019

Please note that the Caledonian Canal is currently closed to boat traffic at Gairlochy due to a burst hydraulic hose on the Gairlochy swing bridge.

A replacement hose is due to be fitted on Thursday 6th June, which we hope will allow the re-opening of the bridge to boat traffic the same day. Road traffic is unaffected.

Regular updates will be available on our website, as well as on our Facebook page.

We will endeavour to get the bridge back into operation as quickly as possible and thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience.
