A section of the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath will reopen on Monday 8 August ahead of the completion of the new Stockingfield Bridge.
The 500m stretch of canal path from Stockingfield Junction to Ruchill Street has been closed for the past two years to allow construction of the iconic new active travel bridge.
The bridge, being delivered by Scottish Canals, links the communities of Maryhill, Gilshochill and Ruchill whilst also providing a continuous active travel route from Loch Lomond in the west via Bowling Harbour on the Forth & Clyde Canal to Edinburgh via the Union Canal.
The area surrounding the towpath remains an active construction site for landscaping and a community led artwork project to continue. The bridge is on schedule to open this Autumn.
