Leamington Lift Bridge on the Union Canal has now reopened after completion of extensive works.
The bridge was closed to boating traffic in 2018 after being identified as a public safety and operational risk. Thanks to a festive funding windfall of £350,000 from Sustrans Scotland in December 2018, we were able to commence essential upgrading works this year to preserve the bridge and allow it to become fully operational again.
We would like to extend our thanks to Sustrans Scotland for the funding award, to our Canal Champion Councillor Gavin Corbett and all local residents and canal users for their support during the works period.
