Towpath Diversion on the QEII Canal near Grangemouth

Towpath Diversion on the QEII Canal near Grangemouth

To allow third-party repair works to pipe over the QEII Canal at Grangemouth there will be some towpath and navigation disruption.

Both the QEII Canal and a section of the towpath will be closed between 18th October 2021 and July 2022 to allow works to be carried out safely.

Update 22nd June 2022

The repairs to the third-party pipes at Dalgrain pumping station have been delayed by some operational issues. This has had a knock-on effect to the towpath and canal. The QEII Canal link is now likely to remain closed to navigation and towpath traffic until 8th July. Customers are advised to continue using the towpath diversion outlined below.

Update 31st March 2022

Due to an ongoing issue with a third third-party asset, the QEII Canal link and de-masting facilities at the Firth of Forth are currently expected to remain closed until the end of June 2022.

Navigation through the Forth & Clyde Canal will be maintained through sea lock 2 at The Kelpies. Any customers wishing to use de-masting facilities may wish to contact Port Edgar on the Firth of Forth where de-masting can be arranged.

There will also be some local towpath disruption when the works to rectify the issue are undertaken.
