Update 9th April 2021
As our team and contractors continue the works on Woodcockdale Weir, there will be a temporary floating pontoon installed on the waterway to provide access to the offside of the canal.
This part of the works will be ongoing from Wednesday the 14th of April – Friday the 16th of April, and while the pontoon is in place there will be no access past this point for paddlers on the waterway.
Following a breach on the Union Canal near Linlithgow on 12th August 2020, Scottish Canals have prioritised a programme of works to build resilience into the Union Canal. As part of this programme, we will be undertaking works at Woodcockdale Weir.
To allow us to carry out improvement works safely, towpath closure and local restriction in navigation will be in place in this area from Monday 25th January 2021 until Friday 30th April 2021. For ongoing commute, please follow the diversion outlined below via the River Avon Heritage Trail
