A former distillery, Rosebank is a wonderful opportunity to create a unique canalside development in a highly prominent location. Scottish Canals are looking to encourage a creative approach which maximises the site’s potential as part of the overall Falkirk Canal Corridor.
Falkirk is centrally positioned between Glasgow and Edinburgh within easy access of Stirling. The town benefits from a strong communications network with easy access to the M9 between Edinburgh and Perth and the M876 linking into the M80 between Stirling and Glasgow. Falkirk is also located on the main railway line between Glasgow and Edinburgh, offering comfortable commuting distances.
Rosebank forms one of a number of major development initiatives being undertaken along the Falkirk Canal Corridor. These include the world famous Falkirk Wheel, Portdownie Masterplan and the lottery-backed Helix project. These are aimed at the continuing transformation of the canal corridor as an attractive place for business, homeowners and recreational visitors alike.
The buildings and overall site offer scope for a variety of different potential uses which may involve gradual investment over a period of time, as part of a staged approach. Grant assistance may be available to assist with certain development options.
Potential uses include:
- Micro brewery
- Tourist-based destination
- Cafe / restaurant
- Studio / office space
- Water based opportunities
- Cultural or educational facility
