What time does the event start?
The gates open at 10am, our opening ceremony starts at 10.30 and live music on the Electric Honey stage begins at 11am. Food and drinks will be onsale from 10am in the YUG Village.
Is the event really free?
Yes entry to the Youth Urban Games and Glasgow Canal Festival are both free. The ‘have-a-go’ sessions at the Youth Urban Games are also free.
My child is under 8. Can we still come along?
Yes, everyone is welcome but the main YUG Arena site will be busy so please consider this if you have very young children and are coming along with buggies etc.
Also please note children aged under 10 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
What is the last time we can arrive by?
You can arrive until 4.15pm on Saturday 25th August, no entry will be permitted after this time.
What is the postcode for the event?
Access to the event is from Sawmillfield Street, the postcode is G4 9SA
Can we leave and come back again?
Yes, depending on how busy the site is.
Can I bring my dog?
Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome everywhere except the Arena, it’s your responsibility to clean up after your dog.
Can I smoke on site?
There’s no smoking permitted around and inside the Youth Urban Games site.
I would like to bring a picnic. Is this ok?
There will be delicious street food on offer but if you would like to bring picnic along we would advise heading to the Glasgow Canal Festival at the top of Bairds Brae where there are benches and grass areas to sit.
Please do not bring BBQs or Alcohol as these are not permitted.
I would like to try one of the sports. Will there be an opportunity for this, and how much will it be?
We’ll have ‘have-a-go’ sessions for people aged 7+ from 2.30pm. As spaces are limited we will have two opportunities for you to register for a place, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, please check our programme for registration times.
How do I get to the event, and is there on-site parking?
Click here to read details of how to get to the event. There is no onsite parking we would encourage you to arrive by public transport, foot or bike. There will be bike parking at the Glasgow Canal Festival a short walk (10mins from the venue).
What happens if it rains?
We do have a wet weather plan in place and as this is an outdoors event we do encourage you to dress appropriately.
In the event of persistent heavy rain we may need to adapt the event programme or close the event. In this case the event MC will make an announcement please listen and follow their instructions.
