Forth & Clyde Canal: Towpath upgrade, Clydebank

Works to reconstruct and improve sections of The Forth & Clyde towpath in Clydebank will take place in early 2024.

Thanks to £500,000 support in funding from the Scottish Government through Sustrans Scotland's Network Development Fund, works will include future proofing the towpath by introducing lighting ducts. Tree root protection will be provided where mature trees have caused distortion of the towpath surface.

These works will provide further improvements to access points to the towpath (including footbridges) that are in need of repair. The Garscadden Footbridge (Bridge 36 at Kelso Street, Glasgow) will also be included in these works.  

The works, which will be carried out by MacKenzie Construction Limited, will take place from Whitecrook Street going east towards Blairdardie, with minimum disruption to towpath users.

Diversion routes will be signed.
