Use of Drones on Scotland’s canals
Filming with Drones
From Neptune’s Staircase to the Crinan Canal and The Kelpies, Scotland’s waterways offer an array of incredible sights and countless opportunities for taking great pictures and video.
However, if you‘d like to use a drone on our property, for safety reasons the following rules apply:
- All commercial drone users must submit a filming application via our filming hub and ensure that all appropriate certification, including insurance, is in place and that a safe flying plan is agreed. Charges may apply to filming or other commercial activities.
- Leisure drone operators must follow the Civil Aviation Authority Drone Code at all times. If you are flying a drone near our canals, we ask that you do so safely and keep a safe distance from our assets where there is a group of people who cannot move away quickly.
