M8 bridge re-opening 25th anniversary flotilla
Overview
Join in the spectacle of a fantastic flotilla of boats coming together in celebration of 25 years of the M8 bridge reopening. After being an industrial highway, the M8 of its day, the canal became a rural byway. In the 1960 and 70s construction of the M8 motorway blocked the routes of the Union Canal and the Monkland Canal. During the Millennium Link restoration project to reopen the canal, a new bridge (21A) was built under the M8 to reopen this part of the canal. The opening day was celebrated by boats from Linlithgow and Ratho meeting bow to bow. Join us in celebrating this historic event 25 years later with a spectacular flotilla!
Location
Flotilla will meet at M8 Bridge 21A, Broxburn at 1pm
