The Jacobite Steam Train (Hogwarts Express)
The Jacobite Steam Train offers a nostalgic and picturesque steam train journey through the stunning Scottish Highlands.
Hailed as the greatest railway journey in the world, the Jacobite Steam Train or 'Hogwarts Express' starts it journey near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it then visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis.
This 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes including the 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct, a location also made famous in the Harry Potter films.
Unfortunately, The Jacobite Steam Train is not fully accessible – it’s a vintage train with narrow doors and steps. Wheelchair users can travel on the train as long as they can step on the train with the help of a carer. Their wheelchair must be foldable and can be stored on-board the train.
