Dundashill
Glasgow’s Canal welcome the start of 600 new homes
The widespread regeneration of North Glasgow continues with the 600-strong housing development now underway on the former Diageo site in Port Dundas.
The award winning Dundashill project, which is being delivered by Scottish Canals, BIGG Regeneration and Igloo Regeneration, will create 600 high quality homes on the 27-acre site.
Working with our Partners and Stakeholders, the delivery of this project has been made possible by a £5.598m grant by Glasgow City Council through the Glasgow City Deal. Both the UK and Scottish Governments are providing the Glasgow City Region local authorities with £500million each in grant funding for the Glasgow Region City Deal.
The site provides for high-density urban housing focussed on the strong design-led identity of the City. The neighbourhood is fast gaining prominence as an alternative, creative destination where urban activities blend with a strong arts and cultural presence.
Enabling works, landscaping and streetscaping works commenced in 2018 with construction of the first homes starting in 2022. West of Scotland Housing Association have already delivered 90 mid-market rent affordable homes built to Passivhaus Standard and allowing for additional low carbon technology provision and ultra-low energy usage.
Igloo Regeneration commenced construction of A-Rated Townhouses for sale in January 2023 with the first handovers in Spring 2024 and the current phase is scheduled to complete in Spring 2025.
Dundashill will be among 3000 new houses being built across North Glasgow in the next few years. The site benefits from energy efficient building measures including ASHPs, EV and PV, efficient street lighting and an intelligent water management system, part of Europe’s first ‘Smart Canal’, that carries surface water runoff into the nearby Forth & Clyde Canal.
