Film at The Glasgow Canal

Once a forgotten backwater that mothers warned their children to stay away from, Glasgow’s Forth & Clyde Canal has been transformed into a vibrant corridor that plays host to everything from world-leading design agencies and creative talent to Olympic-level sporting facilities.

From the white water paddling course and clean water basin of Pinkston Watersports – Scotland’s only urban watersports centre – to the bustling creative quarter blossoming around the soaring red stone of The Whisky Bond and the iconic lock flight of Maryhill, the Glasgow Canal features a huge range of potential locations and stories.

House and hotel boats line the canal banks, enjoying the stunning views over the city centre and West End; cyclists and runners take to the towpaths to enjoy traffic-free travel; and paddlers join a wide range of wildlife on the water – the canal is a vibrant, bustling corridor of activity.

A number of historic buildings, from former lock keepers’ houses to workshops also dot the banks, while studio spaces ranging from 1,400 to 14,000 square feet can be found in nearby 100 Borron Street.
