Revolution Festival Flotilla 2024 set to make a splash at The Falkirk Wheel

Scottish Canals is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated Revolution Festival Flotilla 2024 will take place at The Falkirk Wheel on Saturday, May 25.
This unique event, organised in partnership with Scottish Waterways for All and Lowland Canal Association, promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
The Revolution Festival, an annual celebration of The Falkirk Wheel's opening in 2002, will be made even more special this year with the addition of a flotilla.
Following a revolutionary upgrade costing £2.7 million, the iconic boat lift now boasts improved control system technology and enhanced energy efficiency.
Scottish Canals eagerly awaits the arrival of visitors from near and far, inviting them to experience the world’s only rotating boat lift first-hand.
The Falkirk Wheel will be the backdrop for a day filled with excitement and entertainment. Families are encouraged to join in on the celebrations, which include a wide range of activities such as crazy golf, e-boat rides, and archery. There will also be an opportunity to celebrate the wheel in the sky, as boat trips will be running all through the day.
The site will complement their well-loved activities with some added entertainment. Guests can also expect exciting performances from music acts, a dog show, and the chance to do a meet and greet with some of their favourite characters.
Boaters are especially encouraged to participate in the event by adorning their vessels with vibrant bunting and joining in the flotilla. The flotilla is expected to arrive at 11am on Saturday 25th May at The Falkirk Wheel to create a spectacular marine landscape in celebration of the Wheel.
The Forth and Clyde Canal Society will also be offering 20-minute boat trips from 11am until 4pm. Anyone wishing to experience these boat trips can purchase tickets on the day with prices at £2.50 for a child ticket and £3.50 for an adult ticket. Please note these boats will not go on The Falkirk Wheel - anyone wishing to experience the Wheel should book a boat trip with Scottish Canals.
John Paterson, CEO of Scottish Canals said: "Scottish Canals is delighted to once again invite everyone to The Falkirk Wheel to celebrate the astounding innovation and engineering of the world's only rotating boat lift. After a period of closure to allow for essential upgrades to sustain the Wheel for many years to come, we look forward to gathering our canal users together on boats and on land to celebrate together. Come and see the wonderful floating spectacle of boats in all shapes and sizes.“
Scott Castel, Vice Chairman of Forth and Clyde Canal Society said: “Revolution Festival has now become a signature event in The Falkirk Wheel annual calendar for members of the public, local communities, and tourists. We’re delighted that this year we can join the celebrations with a flotilla of more than 15 boats. It’s great to see the canals being used by all.“
Don't miss this extraordinary celebration of engineering and community spirit. Mark your calendars for the Revolution Festival and Flotilla at The Falkirk Wheel on 25th May between 10.30am-5.30pm. For more information, click here.
