Join us on a behind the scenes journey as we explore the history and internal workings of this engineering marvel.
The Falkirk Wheel has recently undergone a revolutionary £2.7 million digital upgrade. Our tour guides will be on hand to explain the benefits the works have brought to one of Scotland’s most popular tourist attractions.
Our Monthly Tours will run at 10.30am and last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and includes arrival refreshments, welcome and presentation before kitting up.
The tour guide will then walk you around the site providing a fascinating insight into the historic significance this iconic structure has made to those using Scotland’s canals before heading inside.

Important Information
** Pre-Booking Information - please read before booking **
Before you book your tour, please ensure you have read and understood the following:

- Please arrive at The Wheel Room (please see map below for location details) at The Falkirk Wheel 15 minutes before the start time. Teas and coffees will be provided.Â
- Part of the tour is outdoors so please come dressed for the weather.
- In the event of adverse weather the tour may be cancelled or postponed.
- Wear long sleeved tops and full length trousers. Skirts, shorts and dresses are not suitable.
- You must wear sturdy footwear with good grips.
- This tour involves climbing up a number of vertical ladders therefore you must have a good level of physical fitness to participate in the tour.
- The tour is suitable for ages 16+.
- Secure storage for personal items including back packs can be arranged in the Wheel Room conference suite.
- You cannot bring equipment, back packs or any items that may obstruct your ability to climb ladders or restrict movement in a small space.
- Cameras must be kept on straps to allow you to climb ladders and must not impede movement.
- You must wear the safety equipment provided (hi-vis vest and hard hat).
- The tour involves accessing areas through small hatches which are accessible for people of average weight and height.

This tour is not suitable for anyone who:
- Suffers from phobias of heights or vertigo.
- Sensitive to loud noises or echoes.
- Is uncomfortable in small spaces.
- Suffers from any medical conditions which may affect ability to undertake the tour.
- Is pregnant.
- Physically unable to climb up vertical ladders
