The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles or 215km across Scotland’s heartland, running between Helensburgh in the west through to Dunbar on the east coast and Muir’s birthplace.

The route takes in castles, historic towns and villages, stunning coastal scenery as well as Scotland’s first national park, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and attracts walkers, cyclists and paddlers from across the globe.

It’ll take you 9-11 days to walk and about half that by bike.

Coordinative management for the John Muir Way is provided by the John Muir Trust
