Major engineering works are scheduled to take place over the winter period along the Caledonian Canal.
Under Scottish Canals’ Capital Investment Plan 2023/24 £650,000 will be spent on the upgrade of our operational moorings/jetties at Seaport Marina, Gairlochy and Fort Augustus.
Included in the works are upgrades to pontoons, damaged jetties and fenders.
The work will include the removal and replacement of the existing Pontoon 1 at Seaport Marina, Inverness.
Timber jetties east and west of Moy Bridge will be removed and replaced with new designed steel and micro mesh walkways jetties.
The life expired pontoon at Gairlochy will also be removed and replaced. A redundant pontoon at the top of Neptune's staircase lock flight will also be taken away.
A timber jetty at the top of Fort Augustus lock flight will also be removed.
A further £150,000 investment will be made at Clachnaharry Sea Lock, entrance jetties and coastal protection.
The work will be carried out by Scottish Canals' framework contractor MacKenzie Construction Ltd.
