Crinan Canal: Reduction in draft
The maximum freshwater draft for boats transiting the Crinan Canal has been reduced to 1.9m.
In order to protect a leak in the Crinan Canal at Bellanoch, the level of the west reach (between Lock 13 and Lock 14) has been reduced by a further 100mm. This stretch now runs at 600mm below normal. The consequence is a maximum draft of 1.9m (fresh water). Our engineers are monitoring the situation.Â
The towpath on that section is closed to pedestrians and cyclists. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
