Crinan Canal Update: Emergency repairs near Lock 14

We’re carrying out emergency investigations and repair work on the Crinan Canal following the discovery of a structural issue near Lock 14. 

As part of these works, we have lowered the water levels between Lock 13 and 14 to allow our engineering team to investigate and plan repairs safely. We are engaging with our contractor on methods to locally dewater the canal to allow repairs that will allow the water level between Locks 13 and 14 to be brought back up.

To keep everyone safe while investigations take place, temporary fencing has been installed at the following locations:

-Lock 13

-Bellanoch pontoon

-Crinan pontoon below Lock 13

-Around the topside of Lock 14

Please note that access to some towpath areas may be limited. Please follow any signage and guidance from our team on site.
