Edinburgh: Harrison Road Bridge - Temporary Restrictions to Navigation and Towpath Diversion
Edinburgh City Council is currently engaged in emergency repair works on Harrison Road Bridge in Edinburgh. There is a towpath diversion in place around the bridge. Signage is in place on the spot, and banksmen will be present throughout the works to assist pedestrians who require access.
Information for boaters
From Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th March, all navigation under the road bridge will be suspended. This is to allow inspection of the bridge to establish accurate sizing for steel to be fabricated. Navigation will re-open from Friday 20th March to Sunday 29th March.
There will then be a second partial suspension of boat movements under the bridge between Monday 30th March – Sunday 5th April, in place from midday to 8pm each day, while the bridge strengthening works are carried out. Navigation will still be possible in the mornings up to midday during this time.
Please note: narrow barges and long boats will only be able to get as far as Ashley Terrace where there is a turning point.
Navigation will resume fully on Monday 6th April.
