Film at Fort Augustus

Fort Augustus on the Caledonian Canal is a hive of activity – bustling with boaters, locals and visitors on the water, the banks and beyond.

Situated on the most southern tip of Loch Ness on the Great Glen Way and featuring a beautiful flight of six canal locks, this historic and scenic hamlet is a popular tourist destination, and offers spectacular views down Loch Ness. The village has long been a staging point for those setting off in search of Scotland’s most famous and reclusive resident – Nessie.

A huge variety of vessels, from luxury yachts to fishing trawlers and even Royal Navy gunboats, pass through Fort Augustus each year, while walkers, cyclists and paddlers can be spotted tackling the Great Glen Way by boot, bike or paddle.

As well as a range of canalside pubs, cafes and restaurants, Fort Augustus is also home to the Caledonian Canal Centre. The centre offers accommodation, heritage interpretation, and a café-restaurant featuring the finest Scottish produce.
