Birthday celebrations unveiled for The Falkirk Wheel’s 21st birthday!
Scottish Canals is inviting the public to celebrate 21 years of the world’s only rotating boat lift this month with a special celebration. The family-fun packed day will be held at The Falkirk Wheel on Saturday, May 20th, with the event running from 10am to 5pm. There will be a huge amount of fun outdoor activities available on offer throughout the day including….

There will be face painting, chalk fights, and not to mention copious amounts of cake.
Boat trips will also take place throughout the day giving visitors the opportunity to experience the attraction for themselves.

Kelvin Aqueduct Repair Plan and Reopening Date Announced
Scottish Canals is conducting a major programme of investigation, design and repairs on the historic Kelvin Aqueduct in Maryhill, Glasgow, together with contractor Mackenzie Construction. Repair work has now begun and this section of the canal will reopen on 1st March 2027.
