Self-drive electric boat hire available at The Falkirk Wheel and the Horsebox Café at the Kelpies! Our quiet fleet Electric Boats are a fun, easy and comfortable way to explore the canal! They are perfectly designed to ensure a stable and enjoyable trip out on the water.

They are easy to use and with only a little instruction, you will be able to go off and discover the wonders of the canal and it’s abundance of nature and wildlife! Our boats are suitable for up 3 people with enough room onboard to pack a picnic or the fishing rod. • Kelpies Hire duration 45 mins. • Falkirk Wheel Hire duration 90 mins • Drivers must be 18 or over. (We operate a think 21 policy and may ask for ID) • Children must be accompanied by someone who is at least 18 years old • Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on board.
What to expect
45 or 90 minutes of Eboat hire. Kelpies check in at the Horsebox Café. Falkirk Wheel check in at the Yellow Shed. Customers must arrive 15 minutes before your booked slot for safety training and buoyancy aid fitting. • A refundable security deposit will be taken when you check in to cover any lateness and damages (refund subject to T&Cs) • No experience necessary as they are simple to drive, and no boat license is required. Full instructions will be given on the controls of the boat from our friendly experienced activities team. Our boats are extremely stable, robust and economical. • To self hire a boat at least one of your group must be over 18 years of age and will be appointed the ‘Boat Captain’.
What's included
Instructions on safe handling of the boat and rules of the canal, Buoyancy aids are supplied and must be worn by all participants. Route guidance and a map to take with you. All boat's contain emergency paddles and an First Aid kit. Dogs Welcome onboard all hire boats, unfortunately we do not offer doggie lifejackets.
