We are proud to partner with Young Scot to help young people across Scotland connect more easily with our iconic destinations like The Falkirk Wheel through exclusive discounts. But our collaboration goes far beyond access. We regularly engage with the Young Scot Panel, inviting them to explore different parts of our canal network and share their perspectives. Their feedback is invaluable, offering us a glimpse into the priorities and passions of the next generation of canal custodians. Over the past two years, we’ve shared a number of inspiring and enjoyable experiences with the panel along the Lowland Canals. One highlight was a placemaking day on the Union Canal, where participants learned what makes a place truly special—and how we, alongside our partners at Mackenzie Construction, are working to make our towpaths more inclusive and accessible for everyone. We also introduced the panel to the vibrant heart of our canal communities by connecting them with local canal societies. These groups play a vital role in caring for our blue spaces, and it was a joy to see young people engaging with their work and vision.
This April, we were thrilled to welcome the Young Scot Panel as they explored sections of the Forth & Clyde Canal, including a visit to the iconic Stockingfield Bridge in North Glasgow. Their visit was highlighted by a guided art tour of the surrounding park, generously hosted by Make it Glasgow. The panel had a fantastic time discovering the diverse and meaningful artworks that bring the space to life. As always, their reflections and feedback were incredibly valuable. We’re grateful for their thoughtful insights, which will help shape the future of our canal network, ensuring it remains a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive space for generations to come.
