A beautiful new addition to Bella the Beithir's serpent body has been unveiled by The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren. The talented pupils of St Mary’s Primary School in Maryhill, Glasgow have created a stunning mosaic pod for Bella the Beithir at Stockingfield Bridge. The Beithir, a 121-metre mythical serpent in Scottish folklore, now forms the centrepiece of one of 22 artworks commissioned by Scottish Canals for the parkland that surrounds the new active travel bridge. The pod takes the form of a large fish made up of many fish. Each of the fish represent a class from the local primary school and contain a collection of artworks from all of the children in that class. The pupils from the school were also able to use the newly upgraded canal towpaths to arrive onsite, making the journey safe and enjoyable for everyone.
